Breakfast Networking at Sam’s Club

On Thursday, April 8th, Sam’s Club hosted the Chamber’s Breakfast Speed Networking Event.  28 participants started their work day off powerfully.  In an educational moment, Larry Bamm, marketing director of Sam’s Club shared ‘Sam’s 10 Rules for Building a Business’.  Of the 10, posted below, Larry believes the last point makes the defining difference - Swim upstream and find ways to be different.  The participants then engaged in vigorous networking.  Here is what some of them had to say afterwards…

“I very much enjoy these events!!  You guys do such a great job putting these events together for local businesses to get together and network.  Everyone knows someone that needs something, and to be able to refer them to someone that is #1:  Local (I am a big advocate of supporting local establishments) and #2: Someone I have met personally as a result of these networking events and feel comfortable recommending.”  Thank You, Erik A Smith - Financial Advisor Edward Jones Investments
“I have not only found this beneficial to our Avon business to let people know we are still out here & Yes we do still do the door to door sales.  That will never go away.  But I know for myself since the last networking event I have found help from the Chamber in getting a office space & screen printing through Step One.  And from this one met Dave from St Vincent to help others begin to earn money with our company & help others succeed, as well as Nancy from Comerica, who may help with a training session for our team.  I have learned something new about all of the other participants each time I come and am now beginning to build credibility with others in our community!  I forgot about Jerry who can help us to save money on our natural gas bill.  How exciting.  I may have missed a couple but no matter what I walk out the door with many new friends & business associates to work with in the community!  Thanks for making this happen!”  Warmly,  Jill Treat-Hawkins District Sales Manager Avon Products, Inc.

“Thanks for changing the format for the Speed Networking event this morning.  I felt that it was better than the format we used the last time.  It was also less noisy, so I didn’t end up being hoarse as with the previous event.
I wanted to say that I liked being able to have three of us at a time ask questions of the featured business.  The individual representing the business didn’t have to repeat his response to separate individuals as with the previous session.  The three of us also had the opportunity to ask the one doing the presenting what type(s) of referral(s) he or she was looking for.
The system of rotating either one, two, or three tables over also seemed to work well.  We didn’t ever end up meeting with some of the same people with whom we had already spoken.  The previous system worked well in this way as well, but this new system was unique.  Take care.  Thanks for your hard work.” Sincerely,  Glenn T. Yamakawa, M.Div.  Admissions and Corporate Relations Spring Arbor University—Jackson Site

“This was my 2nd Speed Networking Event and it is definitely a benefit to attend.  I am meeting local professionals that I may not have had the opportunity to meet otherwise.  It is well worth my time.  Can’t wait for the next one!”  Roxann Davis, Community Services Representative Odd Fellow & Rebekah Home

“Thank you.  I am so glad I attended today and the program definitely exceeded my expectations.  I have been in other programs and, “Speed Networking,” is the best way by far to communicate with one another about resources, products and services. This is the type of networking I have been seeking!”  Michelle Jacobs, Insurance Agent The Walton Agency, Inc.

“Great event! It was an excellent way to start the day. Thank you for coordinating everything.”  Michael Mason, TDS Metrocom
